Die voorsitter van die Bloemfonteinse Skrywersvereniging, Corlietha Swart, nooi voornemende skrywers om R12 000 los te skryf in die jaarlikse landwye skryfwedstryd van die Bloemfonteinse Skrywersvereniging. Vanjaar word die prysgeld geborg deur die Fakulteit Geesteswetenskappe van die Universiteit van die Vrystaat. Vorige wenners van die groot BSV-skryfwedstryd is deesdae bekroonde skrywers, soos Piet Steyn, Carina Stander, Carina Diedericks-Hugo, Fanie Viljoen en Jaco Jacobs! Die sluitingsdatum is Vrydag, 7 Mei 2010.
Die wedstryd word spesiaal gereël vir volwassenes en hoërskoolleerlinge wat nog nie voorheen kortprosa teen vergoeding gepubliseer het nie, sowel as diegene wat wel al voorheen teen vergoeding gepubliseer het. Deelnemers moet een of meer oorspronklike opstelle, vertellings, kortkortverhale, kortverhale of gedigte in Afrikaans oor voorgeskrewe, interessante onderwerpe indien. Inskrywings word anoniem beoordeel.
Benewens aantreklike geldpryse is daar ook vier wisseltrofeë vir skole op die spel. Boonop wen die skool wat die meeste inskrywings instuur, R1 000! Daar is vier afdelings: drie prosa-afdelings en een poësie-afdeling. Afdeling A is vir leerders (Juniors: graad 8 tot 9) en (Seniors: graad 10 tot 12), Afdeling B behels prosa vir volwasse skrywers wat nog nie voorheen gepubliseer het nie. Afdeling C is ’n ope afdeling vir skrywers wat wel al voorheen kortprosa teen vergoeding gepubliseer het. Afdeling D is ’n poësie-afdeling vir gepubliseerde en ongepubliseerde deelnemers.
Leerders wat aan Afdeling A deelneem, moet kortprosa van hoogstens 1 000 woorde voorlê; volwassenes wat aan die wedstryd deelneem se kortprosa mag hoogstens 2 500 woorde lank wees, en digters word beperk tot gedigte van hoogstens 40 versreëls lank.
Daar is aantreklike geldpryse in elke afdeling, asook ’n aanmoedigingsprys (ook ʼn geldprys) in Afdeling A vir ʼn deelnemer wie se moedertaal nie Afrikaans is nie.
Boonop kan wenners van alle pryse ʼn slypskool vir ontluikende skrywers, wat die Bloemfonteinse Skrywersvereniging in Augustus 2010 aanbied, gratis bywoon. Vanjaar se slypskool word deur die gewilde dr. P.G. du Plessis aangebied – ‘n geleentheid wat potensiële skrywers nie mag mis nie! Al die bekroonde inskrywings sal in Inkvars 2010, ’n huishoudelike publikasie van die Bloemfonteinse Skrywersvereniging, gepubliseer word.
Die wedstryd word met die steun van die Nasionale Afrikaanse Letterkundige Museum en Navorsingsentrum in Bloemfontein geadministreer. Die wedstryd word sedert 1989 landwyd aangebied en het sedertdien gegroei tot die grootste in sy soort in die land. Alle inskrywings moet van ’n voorgeskrewe inskrywingsvorm vergesel wees. THE Chairperson of the Bloemfontein Writers’ Association (BSV), Corlietha Swart, invite budding writers to win prize money to the value of altogether R12 000 in the annual nation-wide writing contest of the Bloemfontein Writers’ Association. This year the prize money is sponsored by the Faculty of Arts of the University of the Free State. Previous winners of the big BSV writing contest are nowadays acclaimed writers, like Piet Steyn, Carina Stander, Carina Diedericks-Hugo, Fanie Viljoen and Jaco Jacobs! The closing date, Friday 7 May 2010, is just around the corner.
The contest is arranged especially for adults and secondary school learners who have not yet published, as well as those who have previously published for remuneration. Participants must submit one or more original essays, narratives, short short stories, short stories or poetry in Afrikaans on prescribed, interesting subjects. Entries are adjudicated completely anonymously.
Apart from attractive money prizes, four floating-trophies for schools are at stake. The school which sends in the most entries, wins an additional R1 000! The competition consists of four categories: three prose categories and one poetry category. Category A consists of prose for learners (Juniors: Grade 8 and 9) and (Seniors: Grade 10 to 12). Category B is an open category for writers who have not previously published, Category C is an open category for writers who have previously published short prose for remuneration. Category D is a poetry category for published and unpublished writers. Entries from learners in Category A should be no more than 1 000 words in length; entries by adults should be no longer than 2 500 words and poets should submit poems of no longer than 40 lines. In each category there are attractive money prizes, as well as an incentive prize (also a money prize) for a participant whose mother tongue is not Afrikaans.
Furthermore, all prize winners may attend a workshop for budding writers presented by the Bloemfontein Writers’ Association in August 2010 free of charge. The workshop presenter for 2010 is the famous dr. P.G. du Plessis – an event not to be missed! All the prize-winning entries will be published in Inkvars 2010, a household publication of the Bloemfontein Writers’ Association. The contest is administered with the support of the National Afrikaans Literary Museum and Research Centre in Bloemfontein. The contest was held for the first time on a nation-wide basis in 1989 and has since grown to become the biggest of its kind in the country.
